The Novosibirsk Serial Murders are a series of unsolved serial killings that occurred in Novosibirsk, Russia, between 1998 and 2006. Seventeen sex workers were brutally murdered and dismembered. Despite a wide investigation, the suspect has never been identified.[2]

Murders

Seventeen beheaded and dismembered female corpses were found in the city of Novosibirsk, Russia, between 1998 and 2006.[3] Near each crime scene, police found amulets, wooden rings, pegs, and other unusual materials. Many of the victims were so badly disfigured that police were unable to identify them.[4] All of the murders took place in deserted areas, causing the police to see them as unrelated for many years. However, in 2005, investigators concluded that the murders were perpetrated by a single killer.[5] Since 2006, no murders related to the case have been reported. No charges were ever made.[6]
