NuMex Twilight is one of the most unusual varieties of chile pepper developed at New Mexico State University (which creates all "NuMex" varieties of plants). Shrub like, Twilight grows to 18 inches tall, covered with peppers that start out white, turn purple, then move through yellow and orange, becoming red when fully ripe, producing a rainbow effect on the green plant. Thrives in a container or in the ground. Prolific bearer. Long-lived, when protected from frost.

The NuMex Twilight chile has a Scoville rating of 30,000–50,000, or about as hot as a Cayenne pepper.[1]

It is a hybrid based on the Thai Ornamental pepper.
