Oksana Lada (Ukrainian: Oксана Лада; born March 3, 1979) is a Ukrainian actress, probably best known for the role as Irina Peltsin, the mistress of Tony Soprano, on the hit HBO TV series The Sopranos. It was this role that made Lada become familiar to national audiences. She also played Ulia, in the Netflix Original Series, Orange Is The New Black. Lada initially gained recognition as the lead in the Off-Broadway production, Pentecost, for which was nominated for a Drama Desk Award in 1995. She also had a role as a wedding dress saleswoman in 30 Rock in the first episode of show's second season, SeinfeldVision.[1]
Lada was born in Ivano Frankivsk, the Western region of Ukraine. At the age of 20, she studied economics and engineering in the National Technical University of Capital Oil And Gas and did some modeling before emigrating to the U.S.[2]
She is a fellow alumnus of W.H. Studios where she studied with Wynn Handman, the artistic director of the American Place Theatre, who tutored actors such as Denzel Washington, Alec Baldwin, James Caan, Richard Gere, and Michael Douglas.[citation needed]
Lada has made television appearances in the CBS police procedural drama, NYC 22 and Lifetime comedy-drama television series, Drop Dead Diva. Most recently, she completed filming the feature film, “Douglas Brown” starring Robert Forster. Other guest star appearances include CSI Miami, Hack, Law & Order, Deadline, and Lateline in LA MAMA stage productions of Water Reflections.[citation needed]
