Ossett Academy and Sixth Form College (formerly Ossett School) is the only high school in Ossett, a town in the county of West Yorkshire, England.

Academic performance

The latest OFSTED inspection report of Ossett Academy, released in 2012, stated that the school was 'satisfactory' overall, declining from a rating of 'good' three years earlier. However the report also judged the school to be improving.[1]

Specialist school and academy

As of spring 2006, Ossett School gained dual Specialist School status. The school is now known as a Specialist Technology and Sports College.

On 1 February 2011 the school formally gained academy status.

Drake building

In 2005 a new building, christened the 'Drake' building after school governor David Drake, was completed. It is home to the music department and includes practice rooms and recording studio. The sixth form department moved to this new building too. The building was constructed on old tennis courts and is now neighbour to a multi-purpose sports courts for netball, tennis and football using all weather materials.
