Patrick McNicholas

Patrick J. McNicholas (1919 – April 15, 1990) was an Irish-born politician and political figure in Newfoundland and Labrador. He represented St. John's Centre in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly from 1979 to 1989 as a Progressive Conservative.[1]

He was born in Galway, studied in London and Dublin and became a physician in Dublin in 1941. He came to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador in 1955. He ran unsuccessfully for mayor of St. John's in 1977. McNicholas was speaker for the Newfoundland assembly from 1985 to 1989.[1] McNicholas was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1989.[2] He died in St. John's in 1990.[1]
