Peterhead Community Hospital is located in Peterhead, a coastal town approximately 32 miles north of Aberdeen, Scotland.
The original hospital was built in 1939 and an extensive redevelopment took place and the new facilities were officially opened in 1994.[1]
The services provided include a small midwife led maternity unit. In August 2005 Aberdeenshire Community Health Partnership issued a consultation document on Older People’s Services, Maternity Services and Diagnostic and Treatment Services which includes several proposals for reorganisation of services in these areas.[2]
The hospital has a minor injuries unit[3] with a telemedicine link that enables staff and patients to access specialist advice from colleagues in the Emergency Department in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, when this is required.
Work to the main hospital entrance was completed in March 2014.[4]
