Pim van Lommel

Pim van Lommel (born 1943) is a Dutch cardiologist and scientist. He is best known for his scientific work on the subjects of near-death experiences and consciousness, including the famous prospective study published in the medical journal The Lancet.[1] He is also the author of the 2007 Dutch bestseller titled Endless Consciousness: A scientific approach to the near-death experience (Eindeloos Bewustzijn: een wetenschappelijke visie op de Bijna-Dood Ervaring), which has been translated to German, English, and French (English translation: Consciousness Beyond Life, The Science of the Near-Death Experience, Harper Collins, 2010).

Van Lommel studied medicine at Utrecht University, The Netherlands, specializing in cardiology, and worked as a cardiologist at the Rijnstate Hospital, Arnhem, for 26 years from 1977 to 2003.
