PITCHER PARK MEMORIAL SKATE PARK is a grass roots effort by the community of Dormont, Pennsylvania, family and friends to build and donate a skate park to honor two brothers, Vincent and Stephen Pitcher, who tragically drowned together on July 15, 2008, while on a camping trip in Kinzua Reservoir.

The current plans are to build an approximately 15,000 square foot concrete skate park along Banksville Road & Dormont Avenue in Dormont, PA, which will be used by skateboarders, BMX bike riders, & roller bladers. As of the 2010 current plans, this park will be the largest concrete skate park near or in the city of Pittsburgh and the accessability by public transportation will certainly be an asset to many youth & young adults in the surrounding areas. John Buerkle, of Pashek and Associates, who have successfully built three other concrete parks in the Pittsburgh area, is the designer chosen for this project.

Social media, i.e. Facebook and Twitter have been powerful tools used by the Pitcher Park organization to spread the word globally about their community project. Word has spread from Pittsburgh and across the United States to Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, the UK and beyond. The Tony Hawk Foundation has approved our designer and graciously acknowledged the efforts of this community project with a $10,000.00 grant.

The Dormont Borough Council has allocated the land with the stipulation that all money be raised by Pitcher Park Memorial Skate Park organization and the project be completed with five years from April 5, 2010.
