- 2014 pro-Russian protests in Ukraine:
- Pro-Russian activists occupying a government building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk have proclaimed the creation of a sovereign Donetsk People's Republic independent of the capital Kyiv. (The Guardian) (The Irish Times)
