Psectrotanypus is a genus of non-biting midges in the subfamily Tanypodinae of the bloodworm family Chironomidae. Psectrotanypus varius (Fabricius, 1787) is known to occur in polluted waters with only few other accompanying species such as Chironomus plumosus.
