Puttige

There are three places named as Puttige(Tulu:ಪುತ್ತಿಗೆ ) in Karnataka. One of them is in the Udupi district and the other happens to be near Mudabidri and third one in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.

Puttige (Puthige) is a small village in Udupi district near Hiryadka. The place is famous due to the Puttige matha (monastery) belonging to the group of ashta (eight) mathas founded by Dvaita saint Sri Madhvacharya of Udupi. This is located at bank of Swarna river.

Puttige (Puthige) is also the name of another village in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district(formerly South Canara) of Karnataka state in India.

Puttige (Puthige) is also the name of another village in near Moodabidre in Dakshina Kannada district.
