Quinn Carpenter (born February 24, 1996) is an American ice dancer. With partner Lorraine McNamara, he is the 2013 JGP Final bronze medalist and the 2014 U.S. national junior silver medalist.[1]
Career
Carpenter's parents introduced him to ice skating when he was two or three years old.[2] He skated one season with his first partner.[2]
Carpenter began competing with Lorraine McNamara in October 2006.[3] They won the junior bronze medal at the 2012 U.S. Championships but McNamara was too young to be sent to the 2012 World Junior Championships.[4]
The following season, McNamara/Carpenter debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series, finishing 6th and 4th in France and Turkey respectively. They again won the junior bronze medal at the U.S. Championships. Now old enough, they were assigned to the World Junior Championships where they finished 9th.
During the 2013–14 ISU Junior Grand Prix, McNamara/Carpenter won their first international medal, silver, in Latvia and then gold in their next event in Belarus. Their results qualified them to the JGP Final in Fukuoka, Japan, where they won the bronze medal.
