Raffaele Baldassarre (MEP) 2014

Raffaele Baldassarre (born 23 September 1956) is an Italian politician and member of the European Parliament for the European People's Party. He was born in Lecce.

Controversy

On 24 June 2013, the Dutch news blog GeenStijl posted a video in which Baldassarre was seen checking in at the European Parliament to claim a 304 euro daily expenses fee, leaving immediately afterwards. When confronted about his doings, Baldassarre became aggressive.[1] This expenses fee, the so-called "subsistance allowance"[2] for MEPs, is controversial because it is paid without any proof of expenditure.[3]
