Ramji Thakur

Dr Ramji Thakur is a Sanskrit poet who won Sahitya Akademi Award in 2012[1] for his work Laghupadyahprabandhatrayi (Poetry).[2]

He was born in Phulgama province of Nepal. The Vaishnavic poet Govinda Thakur and his step brother, the famous poet Ruchikar were his ancestors.He has had a long list of renowned gurus including Lakhshminath Jha,V.R.Sharma,Pt.Shobhakant Jayadev Jha etc.The poet is now retired from sanskrit dept.of Lalit Narayan Mithila University,Darbhanga.Before that he has served as lecturer in Purnima Ramapratap Sanskrit college,Baigani,Darbhanga from 1.07.1964 to 31.07.1972 and in Maharaj Lakshmi Singh college from 23.08.1972 to 8.08.1989.He has done his Acharya from Bihar Sanskrit Samiti,Patna 1956 with gold medal and M.A.in 1960 from Bihar University,Muzaffarpur and Ph.D.in 1981 from Lalit Narayan Mithila University,Darbhanga with the topic:बाणभटस्य रचनासु प्र॓ક્ષIविलास:
