Randall "Randy" Bewley was the guitarist for the Athens, Georgia band Pylon. He was born in Sarasota, Florida and attended the University of Georgia art school where he met Michael Lachowski, a fellow art student. They became roommates and decided to form a band, go to New York City, get written up in New York Rocker and then break up. He and Michael along with fellow art students Vanessa Briscoe Hay and Curtis Crowe formed the band Pylon. Instead of being written up by New York Rocker on their first trip to NYC, they got written up in Interview Magazine.

Randy was a very influential guitarist and used the guitar to create not just notes, but interesting sounds as well. Pylon recorded 3 albums, 3 singles and one EP. Pylon have opened for U2, R.E.M., the B-52's, the Talking Heads and Gang of Four. Pylon broke up twice, but reunited and has been playing occasional shows for fun. Pylon's first album Gyrate was re-issued in October 2007 by DFA records. Chomp is scheduled to be reissued in 2009.

Randy was an art teacher for a while, but lately has been devoting more time to his music and his own art. He also played with two other Athens, GA projects: Sound Houses-formerly The New Sound of Numbers and Supercluster.

In the evening of February 23, 2009, Randy was driving on Barber Street in Athens when he suffered a heart attack and his van drifted off the road, tipping over. He was admitted to Athens Regional Hospital and lapsed into a coma; he died two days later on February 25 when he was removed from life support.[1] Randy leaves behind two sons, Blair and Adam.
