Occupied building hung with a banner bearing the slogan "...das ist UNSER haus" ("... this is OUR house") (right above)

The West Berlin band Ton Steine Scherben's Rauch-Haus-Song describes the occupation by squatters of the former Bethanien-Krankenhaus (Bethanien hospital), from the viewpoint of the squatters. The title reflects the fact that the squatters renamed the building "The Georg-von-Rauch-Haus" after Georg von Rauch, a leftist extremist who died in a shootout with police in 1971. Within the German squatter movement, the song became a classic, with the refrain "Das ist unser Haus" (This is our house) being shouted out as a motto. The song appears on the album Keine Macht für Niemand.

WestBam published a Remix on Pop 2001 - Geschichte wird gemacht in 2001.

"The Georg-von-Rauch Haus"

Excerpt

R:Und wir schreien's laut:
Ihr kriegt uns hier nicht raus!
Das ist unser Haus, schmeißt doch endlich
Schmidt und Press und Mosch aus Kreuzberg raus.[1]

(Refrain:) And we shout it loud:
You won't get us out!
This our house,
At long last kick Schmidt and Press and Mosch[2] out of Kreuzberg.
