The red-and-white crake (Laterallus leucopyrrhus) is a species of bird in the family Rallidae. It is found in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Its natural habitat is swamps.

Morphology

The red-and-white crake is 14 to 16 cm (5.5–6.3 in) and weighs 34–52 g (1.2–1.8 oz) (average 45 g (1.6 oz)). The head, neck and back are bright rufous in contrast to a white throat and breast and black and white barred flanks. The legs are bright coral red and the bill is black with a yellow lower addled mandible.^[2]
