Remigijus Šimašius (born 12 January 1974 in Tauragė) is a Lithuanian jurist and politician, member of Seimas (2012-2015), Minister of Justice (2008-2012), Mayor of Vilnius since 2015.[1] He's the current leader of the Liberal Movement of the Republic of Lithuania.

Education

In 1997 Šimašius graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Vilnius University, with a degree in law. In 2002 attained a PhD, after defending his doctoral dissertation on Legal pluralism at the Lithuanian University of Law (now Mykolas Romeris University).

From 2006 to 2008 he was the President of the Lithuanian Free Market Institute. From 9 December 2008 to 13 December 2012 he was the Minister of Justice of the 15th Government headed by Andrius Kubilius.
