Rennweger SV 1901 Vienna, commonly referred to as RSV, is a football club based in the Landstraße district of Vienna, Austria. The club was founded on February 26, 1901[3] and has played in the sixth-tier Oberliga B since the 2019/20 season. The club is named after the local main thoroughfare, the Rennweg.

Rennweger SV 1901 was founded on February 26, 1901[4] by brothers Heinrich and Josef Klomser as well as Ferdinand Lausch and Alois Marischka. In 1904, the club's colors were officially set as black and white.[5]
During the 1910/1911 season, Rennweger SV won the - unofficial - championship of the 2nd class and was therefore eligible to participate in the first official Viennese and Austrian championship of 1911/1912 as a founding member. However, after protests from other clubs, all of the club's home games were forfeited 0:3 and RSV was relegated to the bottom of the league. The reason for the protest was that the length of the playing field was one meter too short. The 2nd division title was awarded to ASV Hertha Vienna instead, while Rennweger SV 1901 had to fight for their place in the second division through relegation playoffs.
In 1919, the newly constructed sports ground was opened, which has remained the home of Rennweger to this day. After the Austrian Civil War, the club was banned from any activity on February 25, 1934, as it was a member of the Workers' Sports Association and thus an institution of the Social Democratic Party of Austria. As a result, the club decided to join the Vienna Football Association in order to be able to continue playing.
During the 1939/1940 season, the club won the youth championship title and the Vienna schoolboy cup. In 1952, the youth team also won the junior championship title.
In the 1971/1972 season, there was a tragic incident; after a championship match against local rival LAC, RSV player Werner Schiehl collapsed and died. The cause of death of the 28-year-old was heart failure.[citation needed]
Since 1992, former Chancellor and Minister of Economics Wolfgang Schüssel has been a member of RSV.
In the 2004/2005 season, Rennweger SV became league champions of the Oberliga A after 23 years of membership, with a record-breaking performance of only three draws and a goal difference of 149:27.
From 2005/2006, Rennweger SV played in the Vienna City League for the first time since the late 1970s and finished the season in fourth place. In 2010/11, they were relegated from the Vienna League.[6]
