Reza Sheikholeslami

Ali Reza Sheikholeslami was Masoumeh and Fereydoon Soudavar Professor of Persian Studies at the University of Oxford from 1990–2006. He received a BA from Columbia University, an MA from Northwestern University, an MA from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the University of California. Before becoming Soudavar Professor at Oxford, he served as Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Washington 1975-85, as senior research fellow at Harvard University 1985-88 and as visiting senior fellow at St Antony's College at Oxford 1988-90. His publications include "The Political Economy of Saudi-Arabia", and "The Structure of Central Authority in Qajar Iran 1871-1896."
