Richard "Richie" McCarthy (born 11 October 1987) is an Irish hurler who currently plays as a full-back for the Limerick senior team.[1]

McCarthy made his first appearance for the team during the 2011 championship and has become a regular player over the last few seasons. Since then he has won one National League (Division 2) winners' medal. In 2013, McCarthy became the first Limerick player to be selected as an All-Star since 2007. [2]

At club level McCarthy is an All-Ireland medalist in the junior grade with Blackrock. In addition to this he has also won Munster and county junior championship medals.[3]
