Ruben Tovmasyan (Armenian: Ռուբեն Թովմասյան; born February 15, 1937) is the General Secretary of the Armenian Communist Party.

Biography

  • 1977 – Graduated from the Armenian State University of Economics
  • 1977–1989 – First secretary of the Orkhanikidze and Shahumian regional committees of the Communist Party of Armenia and the central office of the Communist Party.
  • 1989–1990 – Head of Refugee Reception and Hosting Department
  • 1991–1993 – Transport and Communication Division of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Armenia
  • 2000–2003 – Secretary of CPA Central Committee, since 2003 - First Secretary. In 2013, he resigned from his position for personal reasons
