Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Desa Petaling is a High School, located in Jalan 3/125 Desa Petaling, Kuala Lumpur was established on 2 January 2002 and launched on 30 June 2007 by the Honourable Dato' Zulhasnan Rafique.
In 2009, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Desa Petaling has 763 male students and 753 female students, bringing the total number of students who attended in 1516. It has a total of 86 teachers.2009
School History
The school's history dates back to open on 2 January 2002 under the leadership of Datin Hajah Masarah bt Mat Dun as the first principal. SMK Desa Petaling previously known by the name of SMK Kampung Malaysia Tambahan started with one school session, with 15 teachers, 4 support staffs and 201 students, has increased to 2 school session in 2007 until now. The school was launched on 30 June 2007 by the Honourable Dato' Zulhasnan Rafique. Total number of students increased each year until reaching 1,500 students in 2012. The number of teachers in 2012 was 107 and the support staff is 15 people. Also increased the number of classes to 47 classes. In addition, special education classes were also opened in 2003 with 6 classes.
In line with the increase in students and teachers, school infrastructure are not left to be addressed. Computer Access Center, Music Room and Canteen schools have been upgraded. Herb Garden Science Park, Guidance and Counselling Unit, Ala English Garden was created. As a safety precaution the school has also installed CCTV in some parts of the school to control the student discipline and school safety began in October 2009. By the year 2010, some rooms have been upgraded, the Audio Visual Room, Language Laboratory altered The new computer lab, Sewing Room renovated into a classroom and PPDA room developed in 2011, Broadcast Room, File Room, Sports Room Secretary and Coordinator Room Curriculum has been developed.
