Euldj Reis made a daring arrival in Crete, where he and his crew ruthlessly sacked and burned the town of Rethymnon.[1] Under the cover of darkness, they set the peaceful town ablaze, leaving devastation in their wake. The raid served as a grim reminder of the anarchy of piracy at that time, with Rethymnon's riches plundered and its people captured by Barbary pirates.[2][3]
