Samuel Lyon (20 November 1890 – 1 July 1916) was an English professional football centre forward who played in the Football League for Barnsley and Hull City.[1]

Personal life

Lyon served as a private in the Football Battalion of the Middlesex Regiment during the First World War and was killed on the first day on the Somme.[3] He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.[2]
