Kane, an avid fan of Everton F.C., was born in Huyton, Liverpool. His father Ken McGlashan, is a Labour councillor for Knowsley. Kane is married to British actress and former glamour model Linda Lusardi;[1][2][4][5][6] the couple have two children.[7][8][9]

In 2012, Kane starred in the one off reality presentation, Sam:Kaned (sic) in which Kane explored the fetish dungeons of Amsterdam. The hour-long documentary was screened on Living TV and received a number of complaints for graphic content and scenes of a sexual nature. Kane himself told Digital Spy that it was 'an eye opening experience.'.
