Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics (SGITO) is a specialised tertiary trauma and orthopaedics Institute with emphasis on specialised surgery, post operative care, rehabilitation and research activities. The Institute is a regional trauma and orthopaedic care centre.It is run by Government of Karnataka it is located in Bangalore, India.[3]

Milestones

  • 1984 : Inauguration of Sanjay Gandhi Accident Hospital and Research Institute.
  • August 1996 : Inauguration of Sanjay Gandhi Accident Hospital and Research Institute at present campus in Byrasandra, Jayanagar, Bangalore.
  • July 2007 : Renaming as Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics.
  • July 2007 : Inauguration of CT Scan centre.
  • September 2009 : Inauguration of subspeciality OTs in Orthopaedics- Spine Surgery OT and Arthroplasty OT.
  • October 2013 : Inauguration of Blood Component Separation Unit and computerized radiography system.
