Location of Santos Basin

The Santos Basin is an 352,260 square kilometres (136,010 sq mi) offshore pre-salt basin. It is located in the south Atlantic Ocean, some 300 kilometres (190 mi) south east of Santos, Brazil. One of the largest Brazilian sedimentary basins, it is the site of several recent (2007 and later) significant oil fields, including Tupi, Jupiter, and Libra. Between 25 and 40 billion barrels can be in the Sugar Loaf oil field.
