The scaly chatterer (Turdoides aylmeri) is a species of bird in the Leiothrichidae family. It is also known as the bare-eyed babbler. It is found in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and Tanzania.

Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry shrubland.
