Schiedel AG is an international supplier of chimney- and ventilation-systems with headquarter in Vienna, Austria.

History

With 26 production sites (7 central production sites and 19 local production sites) in 26 countries and a staff of approximately 1,500 employees, Schiedel offers its worldwide customers regional access to all its products. In 2009 'Schiedel achieved a yearly turnover of approximately 200 million Euro.[1]

The enterprise was founded in 1946 by Friedrich Schiedel in Erbach near Ulm, Germany. Since then, the company has undergone many changes under several owners. In 1967 the Schiedel group was founded, which was taken over by BRAAS/Redland in 1990. In 1998 Schiedel was taken over by Lafarge Roofing, a big supplier of roof components. Today Schiedel AG is part of the international Monier Group (formally known as Lafarge Roofing), the world’s leading provider of building materials for pitched roofs as well as of innovative roof, chimney and ventilation systems with operations in 42 countries on four continents. In 2006, after 15 years of growth in Europe, Schiedel expanded to North America.

Products

Schiedel produces a full range of ceramic and steel chimney systems that extend from systems for single- and multi-family houses in the residential business to country specific options geared to local climatic conditions, building regulations and construction methods. Besides that Schiedel offers chimney systems for the non-residential sector as well as mechanical and natural ventilation systems for every building type.

The main product lines are:

  1. ceramic chimney systems:
    the ceramic chimney systems consist of an inner ceramic liner, an insulation and a blockstone around it
  2. steel chimney systems :
    beside the cermaic chimney systems Schiedel offers a great variety of steel chimney systems for flexible applications (both inside or outside). The product range comprises single-wall, twin-wall and flexible systems.
  3. ventilation systems:
    Schiedel offers mechanical and natural ventilation. Ventilation geared to individual needs safeguards quality of living and embodies comfort.
  4. fireplaces:
    Schiedel’s product range comptises open fireplaces, chimney inserts and stoves.
