Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts

Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts (sometimes billed simply as The Wildabouts) were a rock and roll band formed sometime around 2012 by former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver lead singer Scott Weiland, along with bassist Tommy Baker, guitarist Jeremy Brown, and multi-instrumentalist Doug Grean. Grean left the band in early 2014. The band recorded its debut album Blaster later in 2014 with drummer Danny Thompson. Thompson quit the band in February 2015, to be replaced by Joey Castillo. Mike Avaneim occasionally filled in on drums for Thompson and Castillo.

Brown died unexpectedly the day before the album came out, for reasons which were not made public at the time. He was 34 years old.

Guitarist Nick Maybury (formerly of the Christian rock band Something Like Silas) was quickly recruited to fill Brown's place, and the band toured somewhat sporadically throughout the summer and fall of 2015, mostly at festivals or in relatively small venues. The band's last show was in Toronto on December 1, 2015.

Weiland died of a drug overdose on the band's tour bus two days later, on December 3, 2015, in a hotel parking lot in Bloomington, Minnesota. He was 48 years old. Black was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine but the charges were dropped. The band was originally scheduled to do a show that night in another Twin Cities suburb, Medina, Minnesota, but that show had been canceled several days earlier due to slow ticket sales. The band was still scheduled to play in Rochester, Minnesota the next night.
