Sean Panting is a Canadian musician, actor and politician.

Career

He is a founding member of iconic Newfoundland bands Drive and Kelly Russell & The Planks.[1] He has released multiple albums including Man of the Year (2011),[1] Following the Electric Receiver and Acoustic Victrola (2005),[1] Pop Disaster (2002),[1] and his solo debut Lotus Land (2000).[1] He has had frequent appearances as an actor on stage and screen, most notably as Walter McLean the lawyer on CBC Television's Republic of Doyle.[2]

He unsuccessfully ran in the 2015 provincial election as a candidate for the district of Mount Scio, as a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador New Democratic Party.[3] His father Gerry Panting led the NDP party from 1974 to 1977.[3]
