The theory of the selfish gene is another name for the gene-centered view of evolution.

Selfish gene may also refer to:

  • The Selfish Gene, a book by Richard Dawkins discussing the selfish gene theory
  • Selfish DNA, sequences of DNA that spread by forming additional copies of themselves within the genome, and which don't contribute to the reproductive success of the host organism
  • A gene such as R2d2 that demonstrates transmission bias and invades sexual populations despite conferring no benefit to the host
