Sheikh Helal Uddin is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and Member of parliament from Bagerhat-1.[1] His father Sheikh Naser was the younger brother of Sheikh Mujib, the first president of Bangladesh, who was killed in assassination of Sheikh Mujib.[2] He is the cousin of Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.[3] His election rally in Mollahat Upazila in 2001 was bombed by members Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami.[4]
