The Sinan Erdem Dome (Turkish: Sinan Erdem Olimpik Spor Salonu), formerly known as the Ataköy Dome, is a multi-purpose indoor arena that is located in the European side of Istanbul, Turkey.

It has a seating capacity of 22,500 for concerts and for the sport of basketball it has a seating capacity of 16,000[1] people, making it Turkey's largest multi-purpose indoor venue and the third largest in Europe (although it is not the third largest in Europe in capacity for basketball use). The arena is named after Sinan Erdem (1927–2003), who was the President of the National Olympic Committee of Turkey from 1989 until his death in 2003.

Major events

Sinan Erdem Dome successfully hosted the 2010 FIBA World Championship and will host the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships, the 2012 FINA Short Course World Championships, and the 2011-2013 WTA Tour Championships.

For the 2010 FIBA World Championship, most of the 16,000 seats were in temporary stands built on top of the permanent stands, exclusively for the tournament. They are to be dismantled after the tournament.

Tenants

Fenerbahçe Ülker and Efes Pilsen S.K. plays theirs Turkish League and EuroLeague matches there since 2010-11 season. Both teams played before in Abdi İpekçi Arena.
