Before Smile Empty Soul, they were known as 'Hecklers Veto'. During this time they released an EP titled Smile Empty Soul, copies of the EP were passed out at local rock shows by the band. One fan recalls getting one at a local Papa Roach show; despite them being passed out, quantities of the EP are very rare. There are only two known physical copies in existence, resulting in a collectors item of Smile Empty Soul fans. One is owned by J. Danielsen and the other is by the fan who received it at the Papa Roach show. However, despite the EP being very rare; the EP is available via digital download.[1]

The album was however available for free download as "reward bonus" for Groupees Smile Empty Soul: Feeds The Hunger if 2,500 meals were reached ($1 Dollar Donation = 1 meal), however 2,232 meals were reached resulting in no "reward bonus".[2]

None of the tracks released on this EP have been released on Smile Empty Soul albums to date.
