Smoothstack
Appearance
Smoothstack is an American information technology (IT) staffing firm. Smoothstack provides 12–16 weeks of training to candidates before contracted job placement.[1] The firm requires its employees to sign Training Repayment Agreement Provisions (TRAP) contracts that require payback if the employee leaves within two years.[2]
The agency's TRAP contracts have been described as predatory and were deemed unenforceable in Virginia.[3] In 2024, the United States Department of Labor sued the agency for it TRAP agreements described as "modern-day indentured servitude."[4]
