Solitaire Townsend is a British businesswoman, focused on the application of marketing principles to the cause of sustainability and climate change solutions.

She co-founded Futerra Sustainability Communications in the late 1990s with Ed Gillespie after completing her master's degree in sustainable development.[1] Her goal in founding that company was to revitalize the way businesses view sustainability, using the tools of marketing and PR to make the message of sustainability more appealing.

She was appointed to be chair of the UK's Green Energy Supply Certification Scheme in 2010.[2] She is also member of the United Nations' Sustainable Lifestyles Taskforce, a trustee of the charity, Tomorrow's Company, and was named Ethical Entrepreneur of the Year in 2008.

She occasionally writes for The Guardian.[3]
