Sringa
Appearance
The sringa (or ranasringa, blowhorn, sig, singa, kurudutu or kombu) is an ancient Indian musical instrument dating back to the time of the Vedas. It is a type of horn.
Construction
It was originally made of buffalo horn, in an "S" shape.
Playing
The instrument is now rare and played only in the south of India, in Sri Lanka, and Nepal. It is played for festivals, and in ritual performances known as kshetram vadyam. It is also played for marriages and in military music.
