Stanimir Marinov (Bulgarian: Станимир Маринов) (born 7 December 1991) is a Bulgarian professional basketball player who plays for Sigal Prishtina of the Kosovo Basketball Superleague. Marinov is a member of Bulgarian national team. He appeared for his country's team six times during the EuroBasket 2015 Second Qualifying Round this summer and averaged 23.5 minutes, 2.7 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1 steal per game.[1]
Professional career
In 2014-15 season he played at Cherno More in Bulgarian NBL league. In 17 games he had 11.9ppg, 3.2rpg, 4.4apg and 1.0spg. He helped them to win the cup and make to league semifinals. A very impressive season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Honorable Mention and to the All-Star Game. Marinov also played at Levski Sofia (NBL) in Bulgarian league that season. In 6 games he recorded 10.5ppg, 3.8rpg, 4.3apg and 2.3spg. He also played 7 games in Adriatic League where he recorded 8.1ppg, 3.0rpg and 3.6apg per game.[2]
The previous (13-14) season Marinov played at Balkan (NBL) in Bulgarian league. In 30 games he recorded 14.9ppg, 4.3rpg and 5.3apg in 2013-14 season. He contributed to his team ending the regular season as at the second position in the league. Quite impressive season as he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Domestic Player of the Year, named to 2nd Team and named to All-Domestic Players Team. Marinov also played 18 games in Balkan League where he recorded 10.6ppg, 5.1rpg, 4.4apg (top 4) and 1.4spg in 2013-14 season. He contributed to his team making it to the semifinals. A very spectacular season in his career as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Balkan League 2nd Team.The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Marinov was voted Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Best 6th Player of the Year back in 2011.He was also a member of Bulgarian international program for some years. Marinov played for Bulgarian Senior National Team between 2012 and 2014 and previously for U20 National Team between 2010 and 2011. He also represented Bulgaria at the Qualifications to European Championships 2015 last year. His stats at that event were 6 games: 6.7ppg, 2.5rpg, 2.7apg, 1.0spg, FGP: 37.0%, 3PT: 21.7%, FT: 55.6%.[3]
