Stephanus Hendrik Coetzee (born (1992-01-09)9 January 1992 in Worcester) is a South African rugby union player, currently playing with the Template:Rut Sharks XV in domestic South African rugby.[1][2][3][4] His regular playing position is hooker.

Career

Youth

Coetzee represented Template:Rut Western Province at various youth levels, playing at the Under-16 Grant Khomo Week in 2008, the Under-18 Academy Week in 2009 and the Under-18 Craven Week in 2010. He joined the Western Province Rugby Institute in 2011 and played for Template:Rut Western Province U19 in the 2011 Under-19 Provincial Championship competition and for Template:Rut Western Province U21 in the 2012 and 2013 Under-21 Provincial Championship competitions, winning the competition in 2013 and scoring two tries during the season.[5]

Western Province / Stormers

He was included in the Template:Rut Western Province squad for the 2013 Vodacom Cup and made his senior debut when he started in their opening match of the season against neighbours Template:Rut Boland Cavaliers in Ceres.[6] He played in eight matches during the competition, starting six of them.

After one more appearance during the 2014 Vodacom Cup,[7] Coetzee was flown to New Zealand to link up with the Template:Rut Stormers' Super Rugby squad for their match against the Template:Rut Chiefs,[8] following a torn calf muscle suffered by first-choice hooker Scarra Ntubeni. Coetzee was subsequently named on the bench for the clash.[9]

Griquas

He moved to Kimberley for the 2015 season to join Template:Rut Griquas.[10]
