Stephen Alexander Smith is a Canadian legal scholar and writer. He is the author of numerous publications in legal journals and has written two books, Contract Theory (2004) and Atiyah’s Introduction to the Law of Contract, 6th ed (2005). Prior to his career as an academic, he served as a law clerk for Brian Dickson when he was Chief Justice of Canada. As a teacher, Smith is a former faculty member of St Anne's College, Oxford and is currently on the faculty of law at McGill University.
