Steve Robson (born November 1969, Jarrow, Tyne and Wear) is an English songwriter, record producer and multi-instrumentalist.
Career
Born in Jarrow in November 1969, he began playing piano at the age of four and went on to play violin, clarinet and saxophone. He began his adult career playing in covers bands and working men’s clubs around the North East of England. He quickly moved into TV work engineering, programming and producing for shows such as Spender, Crocodile Shoes and The Riff Raff Element. He also produced the second Crocodile Shoes Album. Moving to London in his early twenties, he signed a publishing deal with Andy Heath at Momentum Music. He had his first hit in 1998 with a song called “123” for Dina Carroll. He was then involved in the formative years of Busted co-writing and producing their first album and is largely credited with their unique sound. Signing to Rondor Music in 1999 led to a hugely successful writing career on both sides of the Atlantic, also achieving success in Nashville resulting so far in 6 No1 singles and songs on 17 top 5 US albums.
He won BMI Song of the Year for his Rascal Flatts song “What Hurts The Most” which was also Grammy nominated and recognised by his peers by winning a “ Songs I Wish I’d Written” award. He won an Ivor Novello Award and a Brit Award for “Shine” written with and performed by Take That. He also co-wrote "Said It All" from The Circus album and the title track, "Beautiful World" from the first comeback album. He has recently co-written and produced singles on all 3 Olly Murs albums including "Troublemaker", "Please Don’t Let Me Go", "Dance With Me Tonight" and "Thinking of Me". He has also written the title tracks on the last 2 albums, "In Case You Didnt Know" and "Right Place Right Time". He has co-written and produced tracks on both One Direction albums, "Everything About You", "Same Mistake" and "Summer Love" from the new album, "Take Me Home". He co-wrote and produced the last James Blunt album, "Some Kind Of Trouble" and has written on all 3 James Morrison albums including the no.1 single "I Wont Let You Go" and "Pieces Don’t Fit" and "Undiscovered" from the first album. He produced “Run” for Leona Lewis. Most recently he has co-written and produced the new Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton duet "Just A Fool" single from her Lotus album.
