"Stop the Rock"
Song

"Stop the Rock" is a 1999 single by the British group Apollo 440. It appeared on the album Gettin' High on Your Own Supply,[2] and has been described as the group's breakout single.[3]

Composition and recording

The song was inspired by Status Quo's "Caroline".[4] The lead vocal was performed by Ian Hoxley, formerly of Gaye Bykers on Acid.[4] Trevor Gray, Howard Gray, Ian Hoxley and Noko are credited as composers of the song.[5]

Release

The single was released on 16 August 1999[4] through Stealth Sonic and distributed by Sony Music.[5] It was included on the soundtracks to FIFA 2000, Cars Mater-National Championship, Gone in 60 Seconds, Boys and Girls, Bedazzled and the Australian independent film Cut (2000).[5] The Mint Royale mix version of the song was featured in the video game Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec.[citation needed] It was also used in the trailer for Disaster Movie and in Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2007. In 2014 it was used for the Kia Sportage TV ad.

The song spent 6 weeks on the UK singles chart, peaking at No. 10.[citation needed]
