Susan Deschambault
Susan A. Deschambault (born November 25, 1947) is an American politician and retired law enforcement officer from Maine. Deschambault, a Democrat from Biddeford, won a special election for District 32 of the Maine Senate in March, 2016. She replaced David Dutremble, who had resigned due to alcohol-related issues.[1] She defeated Republican Stephen Martin 1,785 to 1,299.[2]
In June 2016, Deschambault won the Democratic primary for the general election to be held November 8, 2016, and again faced Stephen Martin for the seat.[3]
Deschambault retired from the Maine Department of Corrections, where she worked for 43 years. Prior to being elected to the state senate, she served two terms as a city councilor in Biddeford and was president of the Maine Association of Police for 21 years.[4][5]
