Sven Thieme (born 8 February 1968) is a Namibian businessman magnate.[1] He is currently a Chairman of Ohlthaver & List , the largest private company in Namibia, and the mother company to a host of Namibia's business.

Education and training

Thieme in 1987 made his Abitur at the German Higher private school in Windhoek. He graduated as an auditor in 1991 at the University of Cape Town in Cape Town South Africa. He completed his articles at Deloitte & Touche in Cape Town.[2]

Business career

He took over in 2002 after the death of his grandfather and company founder Werner List the CEO of Ohlthaver & List. He has worked since 1998 in the company; 2001 to 2002 as General Manager. He also sits in seven supervisory boards of subsidiaries. Previously, he was from 1994 to 1998 as an auditor for Deloitte & Touche in Luxembourg operates. In 2004, he was also in charged of establishing the Development Bank of Namibia. In 2010 Thieme was in the Supervisory Board of the public broadcaster Namibian Broadcasting Corporation appointed and he has since 2014 presided over the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry.[3] He is considered as one of the most influential Namibians.[4]

Ohlthaver & List

The Ohlthaver & List group of companies solidified its position under Sven Thieme by investing in various industries predominantly in Namibia, from beer brewing, soft-drink production and milk value-adding products such as yoghurt or fermented and cultured products, processed meat, fishing and processing thereof into value-added products, retail with supermarkets, property development and management, steel manufacturing and ship repair and last but not least, in leisure being restaurants and hotels, the position of Thieme has enabled him to call the shots in a lot of sectors in the country.
