The women's 200 metre freestyle competition of the swimming events at the 1983 Pan American Games took place on 18 August.[1] The last Pan American Games champion was Cynthia Woodhead of US.[2][3][4][5][6][7]

This race consisted of four lengths of the pool, all in freestyle.[8]
