Sylvia Tiryaki

Sylvia Tiryaki is a scholar, political analyst and civil society activist of Slovak origin. Together with her colleague Mensur Akgun she founded the Global Political Trends Center, a policy oriented research institution under the auspices of Istanbul Kültür University. Sylvia Tiryaki was a regular columnist at the Turkish Daily News and writes occasionally for various Turkish newspapers and journals. She teaches classes on international law, philosophy, political thought and human rights at the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences at the Istanbul Kültür University. She worked as a Cyprus project coordinator and a senior research fellow at the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation.

Sylvia Tiryaki finished her Bachelor, Master and Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. She has co-authored number of books, wrote analytical reports and articles. She has traveled extensively and participated in various workshops and international conferences as a representative of both the civil society and academia.

Her areas of interest include human rights, international law, Cyprus, Middle East, European Union, Israel-Palestine, and Armenia.
