TRVL is a Digital Media Company specializing in travel-related content.

TRVL was co-founded in the Netherlands by photographer/entrepreneur Jochem Wijnands and Apple expert Michel Elings a day after they met for the first time at a friend’s party.[citation needed] It launched from a spare bedroom in Elings’ home.

In December 2011, TRVL was voted Best Digital Travel Magazine in the Digital Magazine Awards in London.[1] TRVL was voted Best Magazine App in the 2011 BestEverApps Awards held in California in January 2012.[2] At the The Next Web Conference of 2012 TRVL was the winner of the “Best Mobile App” award.

According to webapplication XYO.net TRVL has well over 1.5mio App installs. TRVL's popularity with readers stands out. It averaged a customer rating in the App Store of 4.8 and continues to hold this almost five-star rating in 2015.

In June 2012, TRVL was highlighted in a video presented by Apple CEO Tim Cook during his Keynote Speech to the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.[3]

Prss, the mobile publishing platform developed by the TRVL team, was acquired by Apple in 2014 to help create Apple News and the Apple News Format. [4]
