The barrio is located near a scree which is formed from a construction of the National Highway, people saw how the mountain were scraped and being torn by heavy machineries and realized that nothing is impossible with machines. They saw the action of the construction equipments, so they decided to them this place "Tan-ao", tan-ao means "Saw" or "Seen", time passed and then name become "Tagnao". People here sell river products, and is the mean mouth of agricultural goods from the two interior atigbang, Sumayao and Jazmines.
